Training log examples: Medical assistant (Medizinische/r Fachangestellte/r)
A medical assistant’s training log records the tasks you took on in the practice: reception, hygiene, lab work, diagnostics, billing and practice organisation. The first year centres on reception and hygiene, the second on lab work, emergencies and billing, the third on treatment assistance and prevention. Confidentiality matters: you describe your activity, never the patient. The examples show one week per year of training.

Tips for this training log
- Confidentiality applies to your training log: write “prepared and assisted with a blood draw”, never names, diagnoses, birth dates or details that could identify a patient.
- Name the measure and your role: “prepared dressing change, handed over material” beats “helped with treatment”.
- Separate what you did yourself from what you only observed. You carry out medical tasks only on instruction and under supervision.
- Record hygiene and documentation (sterile goods, fridge temperatures): it is part of the training plan and often forgotten.
Common mistakes
- Patient names or diagnoses in the log. That breaches confidentiality.
- Only “consultation hours” or “assistance” as an entry, without saying which measure.
- Hours that don’t match the opening hours or the vocational school timetable.
