Training log examples: IT specialist for application development (Fachinformatiker/in für Anwendungsentwicklung)

The training log in application development is mostly about programming: what you developed, tested or documented, and with which tools. The first year adds workstation setup and networking basics, from the second year on databases, interfaces and your own sub-projects. The examples below show what a week can look like in each year of training.

This is what one week in the training log can look like. Always write your own entries about what you actually did. The form itself stays German, as it is submitted in German.

Tips for this training log

  • Say exactly what you built and with what: “REST endpoint for requests in Java/Spring” says more than “programmed”.
  • Do write down debugging. A bug you hunted for a whole day is progress.
  • Customer data, passwords and internal project names do not belong in the log. Describe the task, not the secret.
  • Assign school topics to their learning field (LF). It helps you and the examiner see the thread.

Common mistakes

  • “Programmed” every week with no content. That shows no progress.
  • Hours that don’t match the working time, such as 50 hours in a 40-hour week.
  • Writing weeks afterwards in one go: the entries become interchangeable, and your trainer notices.
