Training log examples: Wholesale and foreign trade manager (Kaufmann/Kauffrau für Groß- und Außenhandelsmanagement)
The training log in wholesale and foreign trade follows the stages of goods: enquiry, offer, purchasing, warehouse, shipping and invoice. In the first year you mostly work in order processing and purchasing, in the second marketing and foreign trade transactions are added, in the third warehouse, transport, costing and controlling. Write down which transactions you handled yourself and with which systems. The examples show one week per year of training.

Tips for this training log
- Name the stage of the goods and the system: “created order in the merchandise management system, checked availability” beats “processed orders”.
- In foreign trade the documents count: write down which documents you prepared (commercial invoice, packing list) and which delivery term applied.
- Prices, customer names and terms of real deals do not belong in the log. Describe the process with sample figures.
- Note when you calculated key figures yourself. It shows you understand numbers rather than just read them.
Common mistakes
- “Office work” or “order processing” every week with no process and result.
- Internal prices and customer names in the log although the company treats them as confidential.
- Forgotten vocational school days or hours that don’t match the roster.
