Training log examples: Bank clerk (Bankkaufmann/Bankkauffrau)
A banking apprentice’s training log records which customer processes you handled: account management and payments, later investments, loans and pensions. The first year is about the counter, accounts and payment orders, the second about securities and mortgage lending, the third about preparing advice more independently. Important: you describe the process, never the customer. The examples show what this can look like in each year of training.

Tips for this training log
- Banking secrecy applies to your training log too: write “checked account opening for a private customer”, never names, account numbers, amounts or addresses of real customers.
- Name the product and the step: “annuity loan: repayment plan calculated” says more than “processed loan”.
- Note where you observed and where you worked yourself. Examiners tell shadowing from your own work.
- Assign school topics to their learning field. It shows where theory and practice meet, for example in mortgage lending.
Common mistakes
- Customer names, account numbers or real amounts in the log. That breaches banking secrecy and data protection.
- “Customer advice” every week without saying what for: the activity is missing and your trainer cannot check it.
- Hours that don’t match the roster or the vocational school days.
