Training log examples: Plumbing, heating, AC mechanic (Anlagenmechaniker/in für Sanitär-, Heizungs- und Klimatechnik)
The training log in plumbing, heating and air conditioning records which systems you installed, tested or serviced, and where. The first year is about working materials, pipe joints and assembly basics, later come drinking water, drainage, heating and heat generators, and the last year covers adjusting, optimising and maintaining systems. Inter-company courses get their own entries too. The examples show one week from each of the four years.

Example weeks
This is what one week in the training log can look like. Always write your own entries about what you actually did. The form itself stays German, as it is submitted in German.
Year 1 Working and joining pipes
Bent steel pipe and cut threads, made the joint with sealant
Set pipe clamps and aligned lines on site according to the drawing
Cleaned tools and workplace, disposed of offcuts separately
Year 2 Drinking water installation in a bathroom
Mounted concealed fittings and a pre-wall element
Pressure-tested the lines and logged the pressure test
Connected the waste line with a slope and tested it for tightness
LF 6: Drainage systems, slope and venting
Year 3 Heating system and heat generator
Set up a condensing boiler under the supervision of a journeyman and connected it hydraulically
Filled and bled the heating circuit and tested it for tightness
Documented the installation, took photos for the system documentation
LF 10: Design and function of condensing boilers
Year 4 Adjusting, servicing and optimising
Serviced a heating system under supervision and recorded the results in the service log
Replaced a circulation pump and adapted its output to demand
Explained the state of the system to the customer in plain words
LF 15: Planning maintenance and keeping service logs

Tips for this training log
- Add the type of system: “Drinking water line bathroom, press fittings” says more than “laid pipes”. Leave customer names and addresses out.
- Note pressure tests, flushing and setpoints. Measured values show you tested and did not just install.
- You may only work on gas systems under supervision and within your training. Enter only what you did or accompanied yourself.
- Record inter-company courses and safety briefings as separate entries.
Common mistakes
- “Building site” every day with no word on which work on which system. Your progress stays invisible.
- Entering hours that do not match the working time, such as full company hours on a school day.
- Entering work that a journeyman did and you only watched, without saying so.
