Training log examples: IT specialist for system integration (Fachinformatiker/in für Systemintegration)

The training log in system integration is about computers, networks and servers: what you set up, looked after, secured or documented. The first year centres on workstations, support and networking basics, the second on servers, user management and backups, the third on customer projects and preparing the final project. The examples below show one week from each year of training.

This is what one week in the training log can look like. Always write your own entries about what you actually did. The form itself stays German, as it is submitted in German.

Tips for this training log

  • Name the device, the service and the result: “Created VLAN 30 for guests on the switch, tested the DHCP scope” says more than “did networking”.
  • Write down how you narrowed a fault down (cable, port, service, name resolution). Troubleshooting shows your method better than the result does.
  • No passwords, real customer IP addresses or credentials in the log. Describe the procedure, not the configuration word for word.
  • Before the third year, plan weeks in which you prepare parts of the project proposal for the final exam, and record them in the log.

Common mistakes

  • “Did support” every week without saying which tickets or systems were involved.
  • Mixing school topics and company work: vocational school belongs in its own block, not in the in-company activities.
  • Hours that don’t match the working time, such as 45 company hours in a week with two school days.
