Training

"A training plan? We do whatever comes up."

There is no written training plan; you are deployed as needed.

§ 5 BBiG / § 14 Abs. 1 Nr. 1 BBiG

The boss may NOT do that
A plan structured by subject and time is mandatory!
The training regulations (centrally defined for each occupation) provide for a training framework plan (§ 5 (1) no. 4 BBiG). From this, the company must derive a company training plan and document it in the training contract (§ 11 (1) no. 4 BBiG). The plan must be structured by SUBJECT (which content) and by TIME (when). Without a plan there is no proper training → this deficiency can lead to extraordinary termination by the trainee (§ 22 BBiG).

What the law says

§ 5 (1) no. 4 BBiG – Training regulations
The training regulations must set out the structure by subject and time of the transfer of vocational skills, knowledge and abilities (training framework plan).
§ 11 (1) no. 4 BBiG – Record of the training contract
The record must contain: the structure by subject and time of the vocational training.
§ 14 (1) no. 1 BBiG – Duties
Training companies must ensure that trainees are taught the vocational competence required to achieve the training goal, and carry out the vocational training in a form dictated by its purpose, planned and structured by time and subject, so that the training goal can be achieved within the intended training time.

What you can do

  1. The training framework plan for your occupation is available free of charge from the IHK/HWK.
  2. If there is no plan: request it in writing + set a deadline (e.g. 4 weeks).
  3. Keep your report booklet consistently according to the training-framework-plan structures — it documents gaps.
  4. For permanently missing content: involve the IHK training advisor.
