The IHK report book ends on 31 December 2026

Nationwide, for every chamber, with no successor from the IHK. Anyone keeping their report book there has to export it as a PDF beforehand — from 1 January 2027 there is no access. This page says what to do, and how the export carries on in MyWorkLog.

MyWorkLog is independent: not an IHK service, no agreement with any chamber. Free, offline, and your data stays on your device.

Last day for the export: 31 December 2026.

Who can export
Only the apprentice, via their own login. The company cannot trigger it.4
What you get
One PDF file with all entries. There is no other format.5
What remains
The duty to keep the training record. Without it, no admission to the final exam.1

What to do now

As an apprentice

  1. Sign in to the service portal (meineihk.service.ihk.de, “Zum digitalen Berichtsheft”).

  2. Open the tile “Berichtsheftverwaltung”, then choose “Berichtsheft herunterladen” and “Berichtsheftexport aller Einträge”.5

  3. Keep the PDF in two places, say on your device and in a cloud folder or on a USB stick. It is your proof for the final exam — even if you never continue the report book digitally.

  4. Decide how to carry on: on paper, with your chamber’s template, or in a digital report book. How the export lands in MyWorkLog is explained further down.

If you add more weeks in the portal after exporting, simply export again — the PDF always contains everything up to that moment.

As a trainer

  • Tell your apprentices now. The chambers explicitly ask employers to do so.4
  • Only the apprentice can trigger the export. Set a date and file the PDF together — at the company and with the apprentice.
  • Decide how the report book is kept from January: paper, semi-digital or digital. All three are permitted under the BIBB recommendation of 2020.2
  • Whether your own IHK offers a successor varies from chamber to chamber: Magdeburg provides Azubiheft, Ostwürttemberg is not allowed to recommend anything for legal reasons. Your own IHK knows what applies.3
  • Approval does not need the IHK. In MyWorkLog, a trainer with an account approves weeks with a digital signature, for all of the company’s apprentices in one place: review and sign off report books.

How the IHK export gets into MyWorkLog

MyWorkLog reads the PDF from the service portal directly — every week, every day, the hours and the sign-off status. It happens in the browser on your device; the file is not sent anywhere.

  1. Open the report book

At myworklog.de/berichtsheft — no account, no installation. The link opens the import straight away.

  2. Start the import

In the toolbar at the top, choose “IHK-PDF Import”. The dialog “Import IHK export” opens.

  3. Drop the PDF

Drag the file from the service portal into the field or pick it. Reading takes a few seconds depending on its size.

  4. Check what was found

At the top: name, occupation and company from the cover sheet. Below it every recognised week with calendar week, date range, hours and status — “Reviewed & signed” or “Completed”. Weeks you already have are flagged and unticked; you decide what gets taken over.

  5. Import

“Import weeks” — done. The weeks carry the origin “IHK import”. A trainer with a MyWorkLog account sees them as “Signed off at the IHK” and gets no pending approval for them.

What is taken over

  • Per week: date range, calendar week, year of training
  • Per day: activities as a list, hours, vocational-school day
  • Absences such as holiday or sickness as a note
  • The “Qualifikationen” mapping into the field Instruction & training
  • The status: signed off at the IHK or merely completed
  • Name, occupation, company and start of training into the PDF export details, if nothing is there yet

What does not work

  • The weekly export (“auf Wochenbasis”). What is read is the daily one, “Ausbildungsnachweis auf Tagesbasis”; if you kept weekly entries, create the weeks and copy the text from the PDF.
  • Signature images and attachments. The official proof of sign-off remains the PDF itself — so keep it.

Afterwards: carrying on the report book

From here on it is an ordinary report book. Write daily or weekly, mark vocational-school days, complete the week at its end. For the exam, MyWorkLog produces the PDF on your chamber’s form — the DIHK template, Cologne and Frankfurt, Munich; other chambers get the DIHK template, and it says so.

Approval works without the chamber: the trainer creates an account, connects to the company and signs off weeks with a digital signature; the apprentice sees the decision in the report book. It also works without an account — a single week as a link to countersign. Both are described on the page for trainers.

If you also want to track working hours, they are in the same tool: target hours, flexitime, overtime, leave. Hours from an Excel or CSV sheet can be taken over too — here is how.

Back up before anything goes wrong

MyWorkLog stores data on your device, in the browser. That is why it works without an account and offline — and the reason for this list:

What does not come back without a backup: If the browser data for myworklog.de is deleted — clearing history with “site data”, reinstalling the browser, resetting the device — the local data is gone. No account, no server, so no copy anyone could hold for you. The PDF and a backup are the protection against that.

Frequently asked questions

Is MyWorkLog the successor to the IHK report book?

No. MyWorkLog has no mandate and no agreement with any IHK. The chambers name no nationwide successor; some provide their own solution, others are not allowed to recommend one. Whether a report book may be kept electronically is set out in the training contract — that applies to every tool.

What happens if I have not exported by 31 December?

According to the chambers there is no access from 1 January 2027, and no export after that. Whether an IHK can still help in an individual case we do not know — asking costs nothing. The only safe route is the one beforehand: export, file, carry on.

My trainer signed off in the portal. Does that still count after the import?

The import takes the status from the PDF and marks the week as signed off at the IHK; a trainer with a MyWorkLog account sees exactly that. The official proof of sign-off, however, remains the PDF from the portal — keep it and be able to present it at the exam if anyone asks.

I kept weekly entries in the portal, not daily ones.

The import currently reads the export “Ausbildungsnachweis auf Tagesbasis” (daily basis). With the weekly export it finds no entries and says so. Then what remains: create the weeks in MyWorkLog and paste the text from the PDF.

Do I need an account?

No. Report book and import run without an account, on your device, offline too. An account is needed for two things only: syncing between several devices and connecting to the company so the trainer can approve.

What does it cost?

Nothing, not for companies either. There are no plans and no advertising; the source code is open under the MIT licence.

Does the IHK accept a report book from MyWorkLog?

For the exam the chambers usually require a PDF; MyWorkLog produces it on the respective IHK’s form. Whether you may keep it electronically is governed by the training contract. When in doubt, ask your own IHK.
