Duties
"Just keep doing the same thing!"
For weeks or months you have been doing the same work with no variety.
§ 14 BBiG
The boss may NOT do that
No! Training must be varied!
The trainer is obliged to carry out the training according to a plan structured by subject and time (based on the training framework plan). If you do the same activity for months, the training plan is not being observed. You have the right to get to know all the areas provided for in the framework plan.
What the law says
§ 14 (1) no. 1 BBiG – Training goal
Training companies must ensure that trainees are taught the vocational competence required to achieve the training goal.
§ 5 BBiG – Training regulations
The training regulations must set out the structure by subject and time of the vocational training (training framework plan).
What you can do
- Compare your current tasks with the training framework plan for your occupation.
- Keep your report booklet conscientiously — monotonous entries are noticed by the IHK.
- Ask for a meeting with the trainer and show the framework plan.
- If nothing changes: contact the responsible IHK/HWK. They can inspect the company.

Subject: Suggestion on structuring the training
Dear [name of trainer],
I have noticed that since [period] I have mainly been assigned to [describe activity]. Comparing this with the training framework plan for my occupation, I find that some training content has not yet been covered.
Under § 14 BBiG, the training must be carried out so that the training goal can be achieved within the intended time. I would like to make sure I can get to know all the areas provided for.
Could we go through the training plan together and discuss the next stages?
Kind regards
[Your name]
