Farbe is a Chrome extension for selecting and inspecting colours. Farbe does not require an account, does not use analytics, does not show advertising, and does not send data to an external server.

Data processed

When you explicitly start the colour picker, Farbe temporarily captures the visible tab and processes that image locally in your browser to determine the colour at the position you click. The image is not uploaded and is not retained after the picker finishes.

Farbe stores recent and pinned colour values, the selected theme and view, and comparison values in chrome.storage.local on your device. This information is not transmitted, sold, or shared with third parties.

Because all data stays on your device and is never transmitted to the developer, the developer has no access to it and cannot read, restore, or delete it for you. You can remove it at any time by clearing the extension's data or uninstalling the extension.

Permissions

activeTab and scripting are used only after you start the picker, so the picker overlay can run on the active page. storage saves local preferences and colour history. sidePanel provides the optional Chrome side panel view.

Limited Use

Farbe uses information received from Chrome only to provide its single purpose: selecting and inspecting colours. It does not use such information for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or any unrelated purpose. It does not transfer user data to people or organizations.

Your rights under the GDPR

As a data subject you have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). To exercise them, contact the address above.

Without prejudice to any other remedy, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your data infringes the GDPR (Art. 77 GDPR).

Note that Farbe itself transmits no personal data to the developer, so in practice there is normally no data held about you that could be disclosed or erased.

This privacy policy is hosted on myworklog.de, which is served by Cloudflare. Serving the page technically involves processing your IP address. Details are in the MyWorkLog privacy policy. MyWorkLog is a separate product of the same developer; using Farbe does not create a MyWorkLog account or transfer any data to MyWorkLog.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date above.
